UniversalAutomation.org in collaboration with Flexbridge and the Aalto University organized a Hackathon from 5 – 7th May 2023.

The aim of this event was to demonstrate how easy it is to solve industrial automation problems with the IEC 61499 standard, using techniques like auto-discovery, MQTT…

One of the most notable aspects of the event was the fact that participants with minor automation background were able to contribute and learn, thanks to the accessibility and ease-of-use of the IEC 61499.

With the help of mentors and teammates, participants were able to learn and apply new skills in a supportive environment, resulting in some truly impressive projects being developed over the course of the Hackathon.
